The majority of my blog posts will be focused on the Stacks crypto ecosystem moving forward. This means that part of my efforts will be spent writing reviews of the NFT projects built on Stacks that interest me the most. Today I will cover one of the OG's in the Stacks NFT game, Bitcoin Birds. The Bitcoin Birds Stacks NFT was created by Abraham Finlay, a photography and wildlife enthusiast who was 12 years old at the time. He has assisted wildlife organizations and rescued several birds, from Coopers hawks to (one of my favorite birds) Muscovy ducks. After learning about digital art, Finlay listed pixelated bird art on the Stacks NFT marketplace. A portion of all royalties earned from Bitcoin Birds goes toward bird conservation and wildlife rescue. What Was the Mint Price? Each Bitcoin Bird sold for approximately $26.60 USD at minting. Those who minted at that price positioned themselves to make an excellent return on investment. How Many Bitcoin Birds Are There? This NFT collection has 400 pixel art birds. Currently, there are 195 total owners. Each NFT has unique plumage and eye color combinations, and may have accessories which contribute to its potential rarity. What Are the Rarity Attributes? There are several rarity traits that distinguish one Bitcoin Bird NFT from the next. Just like with any other NFT collection, the ones with the most rare traits tend to hold the most value. Bitcoin Bird rarity traits include: Hats (Cowboy, Joker, Welding Goggles, Beanie, Santa Hat, etc.)Eye Color (Pink, Gray, "Crazy")Background Color Accessories (Pipe) Bitcoin Bird #315 (STXNFT.com) The rarest Bitcoin Bird on the STXNFT Marketplace is #315, which has the distinction of being a light blue bird with a matching cap. After finishing minting, they set a Wildlife Project as their second objective. This was completed in December. However, we do know that the next benchmark is a new NFT collection. 10% of all of the royalties and proceeds will go toward wildlife conservation projects. What Utility Do Bitcoin Birds Have? Aside from being a visually distinct and instantly recognizable NFT, Bitcoin Birds have no conventional utility. As far as I can tell, there are no plans to gamify the project at this time. However, Bitcoin Birds offer considerable utility for any wildlife enthusiasts and animal lovers in the NFT space, in the sense that you are helping Abraham's wildlife efforts. How Much Do Bitcoin Birds Cost Today? As of today, March 13, 2022, the floor price for Bitcoin Birds is 1,350 STX ($1742 USD). Currently, some 17 birds are for sale on STXNFT for over 10,000 STX ($12,900). With a mint price at just under $27, anyone who minted at that price would see a minimum return of 66x if they managed to sell it at today's floor price, an unbelievable return in just under six months. The Future for Bitcoin Birds NFT's I believe that it is pretty bright, despite the lack of gamification or conventional utility. Bitcoin Birds comes with a fantastic story which will continue to set it apart in the NFT space. Are Bitcoin Birds a Good Investment? In addition to their recent listing on Coinbase, the Stacks ecosystem is best represented on OKCoin, where you can get exposure to Stacks, Arkadiko Finance, and CityCoins like MiamiCoin and NYCCoin. After this week's news regarding Bitcoin Odyssey, the future has never looked brighter for the protocol that brings d'Apps and Ethereum-like utility to Bitcoin. I am a believer that any exposure to Stacks comes with tremendous upside potential.
